The Refinery

A generic square placeholder image with rounded corners in a figure.

Since our modest beginning in the mid-1930s, when our capacity was a mere 4,000 barrels per day (bpd), the CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery has matured into one of the most sophisticated and efficient fuel and petrochemical refineries in the nation. With a crude refining capacity of approximately 167,000 bpd and a versatile product mix, which includes an average of 4.2 million gallons of gasoline, we can supply not only high-octane gasoline for automobiles, but also the basic building blocks necessary for making a wide assortment of products, from CDs to carpets to aircrafts to windows to hosiery. Today’s CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery has been designed, engineered and built to refine heavy, sour crude oils into high-quality, finished petroleum products. This assured supply of primary raw material, together with our high-efficiency refining facility, positions the CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery as a strong competitor in the global marketplace and a stable, long-term contributor to the Corpus Christi community. In fact, the CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery is estimated to have a total economic impact of $345 million a year** on the Corpus Christi community..
